Neo Modern Architecture
Starting from the last collapse of modern architecture which is also called the ” International Style ” , postmodern architecture continues to evolve into many streams . Among the Modern Neo flow .
Modern Neo flow appears on the period between the year 1980 in line with the development of modern architecture since the declaration of death ( 1975 ) and then marked the emergence of a new postmodern buildings . Neo Modern is also evolving along with the flow of deconstruction where the major architects of the period such as Frank Gehry , Peter Eisenman , Rem Koolhaas , Bernard Tschumi , Zaha Hadid , Fumihiko Maki , Kazuo Shinoara , and others who produce works of Modern and Neo deconstruction . Neomodern architectural works very contrary to the classical properties ( clasissism )
The fundamental characteristics of the buildings Neomodern namely :
1 . Have specific concepts such as the postmodern buildings of other streams in general . Can be abstract but also represents something , not just as stylized of a particular formation .
2 . Still shows the clarity of structure and a science with innovative ideas , reasoned and reasonable .
3 . Considerations that were essential to the character of the building with regard to the use of human terms .
4 . In general, a development / continuation of simple formations through concepts and engineering both in the character of the building or structure and function of science with deep thoughts .
5 . Uniformity and harmony on the facade of the building is preferred to the use of materials and color sometimes monotonous but innovative .
6 . Combines elements are memorable as possible and the impossible .
The characteristics above are the common traits that can be seen visually from Neomodern building . To say that the architects Neomodern utilize form , use of materials and colors as well as the structure and evolving technologies that make Neomodern also be some flow like Plastism , Suprematism , High – tech and others.
In Plastism flow , widely used formations are memorable flexible with many curves and arches . This flexible formation makes the building more dynamic and has character . The formations are not always structural , decorative but often fused with the building and not just a ” patch ” both facade and interior of the building how to use color and innovative building materials . The point is trying to put forward ideas Plastism flow through formations are not common of a building with .
Suprematism flow prioritize engineering general shape of the formation . Of the meaning of the word ” suprematis ” itself is against the things that are ancient and natural , this flow mengiterpretasikannya trying to engineer into the building with all the things that are common in buildings . For example, walls , columns and even the sloping floor . The term disposition is natural in the flow of Suprematism in expressing ideas and concepts . However, this flow focuses on the building in terms of concept formation that leads to the character of the building without considering the function in depth . Sense of art is very visible in the work flow structures Neomodern – Suprematism .
High – tech flow structures typically use extreme to ” impose ” an appropriate form to the concept / idea . However in this case is also considered as a function of the science that supports its human comfort . Streams in real Neomodern not raw because every architect in expressing the idea differently, but the basic ideas and goals can be categorized in Neomodern .
Anti – Postmodern , Anti – Clasisisme , Anti – Disneyland , Anti – Deniel , also Neo-Classic/Classicisme . Sometimes develop late modern and postmodern as an abstract vocabulary . Gehry has developed a Postmodern space of the Late Charles Moore as well as the modern repertory of abstract works . Gehry also concluded the arguments about Postmodern adopted by Charles Jenks , Charles Moore , Michael Grraves but not embraced .
CASE EXAMPLE OF NEO – MODERN BUILDINGS ARE:
1 . AMERICAN FOLK ART MUSEUM
AMERICAN FOLK ART MUSEUM
Categorized in the flow of Suprematism as a development of a simple formation for no apparent reason . The use of building materials showed like a boulder , but with a shape that is not likely to occur with the use of stone materials , uniform color , structure not shown . There is no science and functionality aspects are taken into consideration , only the character of the building which shows that the building is an old building ” history ” in the form of ” future ” innovative and unusual . The method is by Hermetic coding , seen here The architect wanted to express the idea of building a museum from time to time from the prehistoric period to the present time even the future .
2 . VILLA ST . JOHN – St . John’s Island , by Hariri & Hariri architects
VILLA ST . JOHN
St.John villa building can be categorized in the building Neomodern flow Suprematism . This is evident from the formation of which is the development , integration and engineering of simple formations to give character to the building , but by considering the function of science such as shadowing and air circulation .
The nature of the disposition of the exterior walls , tilt and stack formations without definite rules is characteristic of Suprematism . The method is used as DISJUNCTIVE complexcity , even slightly comic look at the formation of destructive outside of the building . However, from the interior of the building has seen that the space arrangement according to the method of explosive space and is continuous through the boundaries and relate to one another .
3 . KOREAN MUSEUM OF ART – architects Hariri & Hariri
KOREAN MUSEUM OF ART
Also included in the flow of Suprematism , namely the development of a simple formation . Tilting wall , combine with other formations that form part of the relationship is unclear . The use of the method as well as the disjunction complexcity explosive space on the exterior and inside the building . There is also a concept as proposed by Peter Eisenman L its formation which is a method of hermetic coding .
4 . INDIANAPOLIS HOUSE – architects Hariri & Hariri
INDIANAPOLIS HOUSE
By using comic destructive method , Hariri tried to dissect deeper than a simple shape that combines well with space -explosive methods , building on a building can be categorized as a veiled Neomodern Suprematism . Seen that the complexity found in the building .
5 . AURORA PLACE – Sydney Australia , by Renzo Piano
AURORA PLACE
This building can be categorized in the flow – hightech Neomodern where the use of extreme structure that also supports a science such as lighting and shadowing .
With the initial concept of a screen like the concept of building the Sydney Opera House , Aurora Place building is designed with a strategy perspective approach between the buildings surrounding skyscrapers . This building gives a distinct impression both in ideas , detailed beauty and harmony with the environment . The building is also designed with a very in-depth consideration to the scale of the human body , the use of science for the comfort and innovative structures . Designer architect , Renzo Piano found not only combines architecture , cut , add or change formations into a new form , but the architecture should provide a special contribution in the life of a building in particular and in general to the surrounding environment .
The building is categorized into Neomodern building because it has a specific concept , also consider science and its structure and shape that is happening is also a merger between geometric elements and nongeometris .
6 . LONDON TOWER BRIDGE – Livingstone London , By Renzo Piano
LONDON TOWER BRIDGE
Bentukannya in the form of high-rise tower adopts Thames sailing ship formations combined with the legendary church spire . Facadenya distorted by the presence of areas of different plate light but massive impression material , due to the use of glass in facadenya . The impression was so strong geometric formations seen from the simple bentukannya games rely solely on the facade appears to notching a three-dimensional projection of the plan . The spire is 100 feet tall radiator taking 35 mph wind power to cool the building .
